Chairman John Obuh had earlier revealed the club’s plan to sign five new players to bolster their push for a potential CAF Champions League berth.
Four Players Released
Following an evaluation of performances in the first stanza of the season, Abia Warriors parted ways with four players:
- Taheer Abubakar – now with Wikki Tourists, scoring three goals in five matches
- Samuel Faniyi
- Fred David
- Victor Chukwudi
Injury Woes Ahead of Oriental Derby
Ahead of their Matchday 25 clash against Enugu Rangers at Aba Stadium, the Warriors face injury setbacks. Defender Augustine Njoku, Yakub Hammed, Wilson Elu, and Ayodele Ezekiel remain sidelined, while Innocent Godwin and Israel Joseph are also unavailable.
Abia Warriors aim for their third win against Rangers in six meetings, having previously won two out of five encounters. The match kicks off on Sunday at the Aba Stadium.
