Nigerians have come out in strong support of Victor Osimhen following reports that Mercedes-Benz has initiated legal proceedings against the striker over an alleged unpaid leasing debt.
The case, first reported by Il Giorno, centres on claims that the Super Eagles star defaulted on payments for a Mercedes GLE hybrid SUV acquired under a leasing agreement in 2023 during his time at SSC Napoli.
According to the report, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Italia S.p.A. has filed a complaint in Milan, alleging that the 27-year-old failed to meet financial obligations, with arrears estimated at €90,000, while also claiming the vehicle was not returned at the end of the contract.

Despite the seriousness of the allegations, reactions across social media platform X have largely favoured Osimhen, with many fans expressing disbelief and skepticism.

Several users questioned the credibility of the claims, insisting they do not align with the striker’s profile and reputation.

Others argued that Osimhen, widely regarded as one of Africa’s top footballers, would not risk damaging his image over such an issue.

Some reactions outrightly dismissed the reports entirely:

Amid the growing online debate, there have also been calls for restraint and verification, with users urging the public to wait for official clarification before drawing conclusions.

As it stands, Osimhen—who joined Galatasaray in a deal reportedly worth €75 million—has yet to respond publicly to the allegations, while his representatives remain silent.
For now, the situation remains unclear, but one thing is certain: the Nigerian forward continues to enjoy strong backing from fans amid the controversy.
