Nasarawa United technical adviser Mbwas Mangut has vowed that his side will continue pushing for a continental qualification spot despite suffering a narrow 3–2 defeat to Shooting Stars SC in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The Lafia-based side showed resilience during the encounter, fighting back from two goals down before eventually falling short against the hosts.
Despite the loss, Nasarawa United remain in 6th place with 53 points, with just two matches left to determine their final position on the table.
Mangut admitted disappointment with the result but praised his players’ performance and determination.
“I feel so disappointed with the result today after putting up a superb performance into game,” he said.
“We lost due to a momentary loss of concentration. However, I am happy with the performance of my wards. We came determined to win today, unfortunately, we were many times unlucky in front of goal.”
He further insisted that the race for continental qualification is still open, especially for teams in the top six.
With the season nearing its conclusion, Nasarawa United now turn their attention to their final home fixture against Plateau United in Lafia, a match Mangut describes as crucial to their ambitions.
The message is clear: the Solid Miners are still in the fight.
