Enugu Rangers technical adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu has urged his players to remain fully focused as they push for a ninth Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title.
The Flying Antelopes strengthened their grip at the top of the table with a 2–0 victory over Bayelsa United at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
Chidiebere Nwobodo opened the scoring in the 31st minute, giving Rangers control of the encounter. Despite pressure from the hosts, experienced striker Godwin Obaje sealed the win late on, netting his 12th league goal of the season.
Speaking after the match, Ilechukwu praised the result but warned against complacency:
“It was a good game for us. I’m happy but we must not lose concentration. It was a great game.”
He also pointed out areas for improvement:
“I’m not too happy with the second half because we didn’t play well but our defenders did well and our goalkeeper played his role well.”
Rangers remain top of the table with 62 points from 36 matches, keeping them firmly on course for the title.
Attention now shifts to their next fixture, as they prepare to host Bendel Insurance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu in what could be a decisive encounter.
Eyes on the prize — Rangers edge closer to NPFL glory.
