The Nigeria Premier Football League has announced that the final two matchdays of the 2025/26 season will be played simultaneously, in a major step aimed at protecting competition fairness.
According to Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, all Matchday 37 and 38 fixtures will kick off at 4:00 pm on the same day, ensuring no club gains an unfair advantage based on other results.
The directive was issued to all participating clubs, stressing that the decision is designed to maintain sporting integrity during a crucial phase of the title race, relegation battle, and continental qualification fight.
Clubs have also been warned against requesting changes to match dates or kick-off times. Any team unable to use its approved home venue must immediately propose an alternative NPFL-accredited stadium for approval.
Failure to comply, according to the league, will result in the NPFL selecting a neutral venue for the affected fixture.
This move mirrors similar rules used in top European leagues during decisive final-day scenarios, where simultaneous kick-offs prevent tactical manipulation of results.
Everything to play for — and now everything will be decided at the exact same time.
