Chelsea brought an end to their miserable six-game Premier League losing streak after battling to a 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Liverpool appeared set for a comfortable evening when Ryan Gravenberch opened the scoring with a stunning long-range strike early in the match.
However, the momentum quickly shifted as Chelsea, under interim manager Calum McFarlane, grew into the contest and began causing serious problems for the hosts.
The Blues eventually found their equaliser through Enzo Fernandez’s dangerous free-kick, which took a slight touch off Wesley Fofana before finding the back of the net.
Chelsea’s confidence soared after the leveller, with the visitors dominating large spells of the first half and registering significantly more touches inside the opposition box than Liverpool.
Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was also called into action to deny Fernandez, while Liverpool struggled defensively, particularly down the right side where Marc Cucurella repeatedly found space.
Chelsea thought they had taken the lead when Cole Palmer finished off a flowing move, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside in the build-up.
Liverpool pushed late for a winner, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk both striking the woodwork, but Arne Slot’s side could not find the breakthrough.
The result leaves Liverpool still fighting to secure a Champions League place, while Chelsea remain stuck in ninth position despite finally ending their painful losing run.
