Championship leaders push to seal Brentford midfielder deal before window closes.

Coventry City have emerged as front-runners to sign Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka as the January transfer window approaches its final days.
According to BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella, the Sky Bet Championship leaders are eager to wrap up the deal quickly, with Sheffield United also monitoring the situation.
“Coventry City are leading the race to sign Frank Onyeka with Sheffield United also believed to be interested. Expected to progress in the next 24 hours,” Kinsella posted on X.
The Nigeria international, who spent last season on loan at Augsburg, is open to leaving Brentford after slipping down the pecking order this campaign.

Onyeka has made nine appearances across all competitions for the Bees but is yet to start a Premier League match this season.
Brentford are reportedly willing to consider a permanent sale for £7–8 million, while a loan move for the remainder of the season also remains an option.
Coventry City’s strong push reflects their ambition to reinforce the squad as they chase promotion back to the Premier League.
