Stalemate leaves Wikki in relegation danger as Barau continue steady run.

Wikki Tourists remained in the relegation danger zone after being held to a goalless draw by Barau FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday 31 clash at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Saturday.
The stalemate was costly for Wikki, who needed a win to ease their relegation fears. The outcome mirrored the sides’ previous encounter, highlighting a cautious, defence-first approach typical of matches between the two clubs.
Despite attacking intent from both teams, neither side could break the deadlock, with goalkeepers largely untroubled. Wikki’s forwards came close several times, while Barau also had opportunities, but resolute defending and poor finishing ensured the points were shared.
Wikki, who have been solid at home this season, winning 7 of 15 home games, now sit 17th with 36 points, and their poor away form continues to undermine their campaign. Prior to this match, they had lost 3 of their last 5 games across all venues, including a 3-2 defeat to Shooting Stars.
Barau, in contrast, arrived on the back of a 2-0 win over Abia Warriors, but have struggled on the road, winning just once in 15 away games this season. Their pragmatic approach away from home has often led to draws, a trend that continued on Saturday. The side remains 8th with 44 points.
As the NPFL season enters its final stretch, Wikki Tourists have little room for error if they are to secure top-flight survival, while Barau FC will aim to build on their mid-table stability.
