A growing section of Real Madrid CF supporters have reportedly signed an online petition demanding the club sell Kylian Mbappé following mounting frustration over his attitude and commitment.
The backlash intensified after the French superstar was spotted in Sardinia with his girlfriend during his recovery period instead of supporting the team.
Social media post sparks outrage
Tensions escalated further during Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to FC Barcelona when Mbappé posted a photo of the scoreline on social media.
Many fans interpreted the post as sarcastic, especially after reports emerged claiming he left training angrily upon learning he would not start El Clásico.
Critics accused the forward of behaving unprofessionally during a crucial stage of the season.
John Utaka defends Mbappé

Former Nigeria international John Utaka said the reaction from supporters had gone too far.
“I don’t agree with people raising a petition against someone who’s a world champion,” Utaka said.
However, Utaka also admitted the player should have handled the situation differently.
“He’s not being professional… If he faked an injury because he wasn’t starting, he shouldn’t have posted anything that would cause a ruckus online.”
Pressure grows on Real Madrid hierarchy
The controversy has added more pressure on club president Florentino Pérez, who recently addressed growing concerns surrounding the club after a disappointing campaign.
While Pérez backed the squad publicly, questions continue to grow about dressing-room harmony and Mbappé’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.
