Arsenal FC delivered a statement performance in the Premier League title race, cruising to a 3–0 victory over Fulham FC to move six points clear at the top.
The Gunners, who have shown signs of nerves in recent weeks, were revitalized by the return of Bukayo Saka, making his first start in six weeks. His presence added sharpness and confidence to Mikel Arteta’s side in a dominant display.
Arteta praised his team after the match, saying:
“We showed a lot of authority, determination and composure. We got the crowd going and when this stadium creates that kind of atmosphere, it can be difficult.”
New signing Viktor Gyökeres also stepped up in emphatic fashion, scoring twice to silence critics and take his tally to 21 goals in his debut season following his big-money move from Sporting Lisbon.
The breakthrough came early, as Gyökeres tapped in from close range after a precise cross from Saka in the 9th minute. Arsenal thought they had doubled their lead through Riccardo Calafiori, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
The second goal soon followed, with Gyökeres turning provider this time, setting up Saka, who finished powerfully past Bernd Leno.
Arsenal extended their lead just before halftime when Gyökeres rose highest to head home a cross from Leandro Trossard, sealing his brace and putting the result beyond doubt.
With one eye on their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash against Atlético Madrid, Arteta rotated his squad in the second half, withdrawing key players including Saka, Gyökeres, Declan Rice, and Eberechi Eze.
Despite the victory, the title race remains finely balanced, with Manchester City holding games in hand that could impact the standings. However, Arsenal’s growing goal difference advantage could prove decisive.
For Fulham, the defeat is a setback in their push for European qualification, leaving them in 10th place.
A dominant Arsenal display sends a strong message — the title race is far from over.
