
The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has unveiled a 45-man contingent for the upcoming CAA Senior Athletics Championships scheduled to take place in Accra, Ghana.
The squad features a balanced mix of experienced stars and rising talents, with 25 female and 20 male athletes selected to represent Nigeria at the continental championship.
Leading the women’s team is world record holder Tobi Amusan, who will compete in the 100m hurdles alongside Adaobi Tabugbo and Janet Sunday. Sprint star Rosemary Chukwuma also headlines the women’s lineup, featuring in the 100m and 4x100m relay.
Other notable names in the women’s squad include Patience Okon George, Ruth Usoro, and hammer throw specialist Oyesade Olatoye, among others.
On the men’s side, sprint sensation Favour Ashe and shot put star Chukwuebuka Enekwechi will spearhead Nigeria’s medal hopes.
They will be supported by athletes such as Enoch Adegoke, Usheoritse Itsekiri, and Samson Nathaniel, with additional strength in field events including Romeo Bernard and javelin thrower Adams Samuel Kure.
The championships in Accra will serve as a key preparation event as Nigeria builds towards future international competitions, including the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
