Nigerian forward returns to Hungary seeking minutes and a fresh challenge with Diósgyőri VTK.

Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen have loaned out Nigerian forward Peter Ambrose to Hungarian club Diósgyőri VTK (DVTK) for the remainder of the season, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old, born in 2002, made the move in search of regular first-team football after failing to register a competitive appearance for Aberdeen this season. The loan marks a return to familiar territory for Ambrose, who previously impressed in Hungary with Újpest FC.
During his two-season spell at Újpest, Ambrose recorded 14 goal involvements—10 goals and four assists—across 45 Nemzeti Bajnokság I matches, performances that earned him a move to Aberdeen in the summer of 2024.

Speaking after completing his switch to DVTK, Ambrose admitted the club already felt familiar, citing fellow Nigerian forward Bright Edomwonyi as a key connection.
“When DVTK first contacted me, I immediately thought of Bright Edomwonyi, whom I know from Nigeria and who spent a nice time here. I also remembered that I scored two goals against Diósgyőr,” Ambrose told the club’s official website.
The striker also revealed his preferred position, making it clear where he feels most effective on the pitch.
“I like to play in the middle of the attack best, but if we line up with two strikers, I can handle that too. Above all, my goal is to help the team and the club in the best way I can,” he added.
Ambrose returns to Hungary motivated to prove himself once again, with DVTK currently sitting 10th in the 12-team league after 20 matches, having accumulated 19 points so far this season.
The Nigerian attacker will be hoping his versatility and experience in the league can play a key role as DVTK look to climb the table before the end of the campaign.
