Contract uncertainty and injury struggles fuel speculation over John Stones’ future at Manchester City as Bayern Munich circle.

Bayern Munich have reportedly expressed interest in signing John Stones as uncertainty continues to surround the defender’s future at Manchester City.
The 31-year-old centre-back is entering the final months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season. A campaign disrupted by injuries has further clouded his long-term prospects under manager Pep Guardiola.
There was already little expectation of a renewal heading into the season, and Guardiola’s recent public comments have only reinforced the belief that a summer separation is likely between Stones and the Premier League champions.
Manchester City have also taken steps to refresh their defensive options, signing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace for £20 million in January and recalling Max Alleyne from loan at Watford.
With his contract winding down, Stones is now free to explore talks with interested clubs ahead of next season. While he can legally agree a pre-contract with clubs outside England, domestic negotiations are restricted until he enters the final month of his deal.

A return to Everton has been speculated, but the Toffees’ focus on re-signing Jack Grealish makes another high-profile move financially unlikely.
According to reports from OneFootball, Bayern Munich are actively seeking defensive depth, with Stones emerging as a potential low-risk, high-quality option.
“Bayern have already started moves behind the scenes to persuade Stones,” a source revealed.
“His old teammate Vincent Kompany could be key, as could another England player in Harry Kane.”
Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the situation, while AC Milan remain a possible alternative destination.
Despite his injury setbacks and advancing age, Stones continues to post elite numbers, ranking in the 95.5th percentile for duels won and 96.6th percentile for aerial duels won among centre-backs domestically — making him one of the most attractive free-transfer opportunities on the market this summer.
