“Barau FC has completed the acquisition of former Enyimba FC and Lobi Stars hitman, Joseph Atule. He is expected to be on the matchday squad against visiting Ikorodu City FC,” Olaiya wrote.
The 27-year-old forward has an extensive career across Nigeria and Egypt, with stints at Katsina United, Cleopatra FC, El Makasa, Enppi SC, Lobi Stars, and Enyimba, contributing over 50 goals in more than 100 appearances.
Atule returned to the NPFL in October 2022 with Lobi Stars, moved to Enyimba in August 2023, and now joins Barau, bringing experience and attacking depth to the debutant Kano-based side.
Barau currently sit 15th on the NPFL table with 27 points from 23 matches, having drawn 0-0 with Bendel Insurance in midweek. The club is banking on Atule’s pedigree and goal-scoring record to help push them away from relegation danger in the second half of the season.
