Bundesliga side Hamburg SV close in on loan deal for Philip Otele from Swiss champions Basel with option to buy.

Hamburg SV have reached an agreement to sign Nigerian winger Philip Otele on loan from Swiss side Basel for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, according to Sportblits.com.
Sky Sport transfer expert Florian Plettenberg confirmed that both clubs have agreed on the deal, which also includes an option to buy at the end of the season.

Otele is set to undergo his medicals today, with an official announcement expected shortly.
The 26-year-old Nigerian has impressed since joining Basel from UAE club Al Wehda in January 2025, recording five goals and two assists in 20 league appearances this season. His performances have previously attracted interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Celtic, and Lazio.
This move to Hamburg SV offers Otele the chance to test himself in the Bundesliga, adding depth and attacking options to the German side’s squad as they push through the second half of the season.
