Florentino Pérez has firmly stated that he will not resign as president of Real Madrid CF, putting an end to growing speculation about his future at the club.
The 79-year-old addressed the media in an emergency press conference, confirming that instead of stepping down, he has called for new elections to reinforce his mandate.
“I am not going to resign” — Pérez
Pérez dismissed rumours of his exit and insisted he remains fully committed to the club’s future.
“I am not going to resign,” Pérez declared.
He also announced that the current board will present itself in the upcoming election process as he seeks to continue his leadership at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Election move amid pressure
The Madrid president explained that the decision to trigger elections was aimed at defending the club’s structure and the “socios” ownership model.
He also suggested that recent criticism from sections of the media had gone too far.
Strong response to rumours
Pérez pushed back strongly against reports questioning his health and leadership, calling them part of a “smear campaign” against both him and the club.
“My health is perfect,” he insisted, rejecting claims circulating in the media.
Despite a difficult, trophyless season, Pérez made it clear he remains in full control and intends to continue shaping Real Madrid’s future.
