Mason Mount has boldly declared that Manchester United have what it takes to challenge for the Premier League title next season and finally end their 13-year drought.
The England international, who has enjoyed a strong 2025/26 campaign under manager Michael Carrick, expressed his optimism during an interview with the club’s official website.
“I think we have the quality to. I have a goal of winning the Premier League. Obviously I’ve won the Champions League already, but can we do that? Yes, I think we can as a group. We have to have that kind of mentality.”
Mount emphasised the importance of maintaining the right mindset throughout the season and building on their impressive performances against the league’s biggest sides.
“It may seem a little bit far away, but you have to have that mentality to really push yourself as a group. We’ve shown what we can do against the big teams already; Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, you know.
We’ve already shown that this season, so we definitely can do it. It’s about now doing it on a bigger stage in the Champions League and doing it more consistently in the Premier League.”
The former Chelsea star made it clear that winning the Premier League is a personal target as he looks to play a major role in United’s resurgence.
“Hopefully, be a massive part of that moving forward next season. Yeah, it’s a goal: I want to win the Premier League.”
Mount’s confidence comes after Manchester United have shown encouraging signs this season, particularly in matches against the traditional ‘Big Six’ clubs. Fans will now be hoping the team can translate those performances into consistent results across the entire campaign.
With several key players settled and the squad continuing to evolve, Mount believes the Red Devils are ready to launch a serious title bid in the 2026/27 season.
