Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola could not hide his emotions after his side’s convincing 3-0 victory over Brentford, as the Premier League title race took another dramatic twist.
Goals from Jérémy Doku, Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush helped City close the gap on league leaders Arsenal to just two points, piling pressure on the Gunners ahead of their clash against West Ham.
As he wrapped up his post-match press conference, Guardiola made his feelings crystal clear by shouting:
“Come on you Irons!”
The Spaniard even crossed his arms in imitation of a gesture famously used by West Ham supporters, openly hoping the Hammers can derail Arsenal’s title ambitions.
Guardiola Refuses To Give Up On EPL Crown
Despite Arsenal still sitting top of the table, Guardiola insisted Manchester City are fully focused on winning every remaining game.
“It’s not in our hands now so it depends on them dropping points. I love it. I love to be here again.”
The City boss also praised Arsenal’s incredible campaign this season.
“We are fighting with a team in the final of the Champions League without losing a game and have been top of the league almost all season.”
Tough Fixtures Still Await Man City
Manchester City still face a demanding run of matches before the season ends, including games against:
- Crystal Palace
- Bournemouth
- Aston Villa
City will also contest the FA Cup final, making the final weeks of the season extremely intense.
“The calendar is demanding. It’s just two weeks and the season will be over,” Guardiola admitted.
Meanwhile, Arsenal still have to play:
- West Ham United
- Burnley
- Crystal Palace
With just a handful of games remaining, the Premier League title race is heading for a dramatic finish.
